Christmas Butter Cookies – Melt-in-Your-Mouth Holiday Treats!”
Ingredients:
1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
Holiday sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add Egg and Extracts: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shape the Cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your hand or the bottom of a glass.
Decorate: Sprinkle the tops with holiday sprinkles or colored sugar for festive flair.
Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Be careful not to overbake for a tender, buttery texture.
Cool and Serve: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips for Success:
Chill the dough for 15 minutes if it feels too soft to work with.
Store in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for longer freshness.
