Delicious Caramel Apple Pie Recipe – Perfect for Dessert
Just took this pie out of the oven. It’s a caramel apple pie. I made 2 more earlier today. I forgot to add thickener to the first one so it was “soupy”. The 2nd one went to a neighbor and I believe this one will disappear when my son and his girlfriend come over to get his pup. I told them to bring vanilla ice cream.
You’ll Need
about 7 or 8 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced. (I used 5 Granny Smith and 3 Honey crisp )
1 tsp cinnamon
Maybe about 1/4 tsp fresh grated nutmeg
1 c light brown sugar
1/2 flour (plus about 3 lbs of cornstarch if apples are very juicy)
1 lemon, zest and juice
About 2 tlbs butter, diced
1 egg
Instructions
Enough caramel sauce to drizzle on top of apples once you put them in the shell.
Your favorite pie crust recipe enough for 2 crusts, or buy the crust.
Preheat oven 350°
Coat
Mix all try ingredients then sprinkle on top of sliced apples. Place on top of crust. Drizzle with caramel sauce then dot with butter. Place second pie crust on top. Cut little slits in top crust for air and steam to escape. Brush top with egg wash. I sprinkle the top with sugar but you don’t have to.
Bake about 50 to 60 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
